Polaris, it can fit a small ship inside and it seems a little more versatile than the Hammerhead. The Carrack is pretty awesome in itself, but them Hammerhead turrets though. I'm toying with all kinds of iterations of my fleet. Although, I think in the end I will likely just upgrade my Carrack to the Hammerhead instead and look at buying back the Carrack later.Īlthough, I don't think you can buy back a ship if you use it to upgrade to another ship I might have to just melt the Carrack instead and upgrade a Nox or something. I'd use the Hammerhead as a fighter screen to protect higher value ships from incoming fighters and bombers. Theory crafting, a strike package would consist of fighters and small bombers to take out point defenses and use the Polaris to launch the big torps from range. If I'm composing a a large fleet package, I'd use both. The Polaris will want to engage larger ships at a stand off distance. Largely, I think, the Hammerhead is for area denial against smaller ships. If you want to protect an asset from flights of fighter class ships, the Hammerhead will be tool. The Hammerhead main role will be screening against ships smaller than itself. With the Polaris, you are going to focus on firing super expensive size 10 torps at high value targets. The Polaris is a big game hunter and will require a larger crew to be effective. Choosing I think largely has to do with the targets you envision attacking. I already have a Polaris and am considering melting to the Hammerhead. Polaris or Hammerhead? Which would you choose? What do you mean 'should'?
